How long does a jar last?
It depends on how severe your case is. With mild flaking or occasional irritation, a jar lasts 1 to 2 months using it once or twice a week. If you're dealing with thick plaques you may need it 2-3 times a week for the first few weeks, and then it'll last about 3-4 weeks. A little goes a long way.
Does it dry out the hair?
No. It has macadamia and coconut oil for exactly that reason: it exfoliates the skin without leaving your hair like straw, which is what usually happens with medicated shampoos.
Does it work if my hair is colored?
Yes. It goes on the scalp, not the lengths, and it's sulfate-free: it won't fade your color. In fact, by removing product buildup and hard-water minerals, the color looks brighter.
Can it make my hair fall out?
It's the opposite. What weakens hair is buildup at the root and constant scratching. By removing that layer and stopping the itch, the follicle is no longer suffocated. The exfoliant contains finely ground sea salt and oils: it dissolves when you rinse and doesn't pull on your hair.
I have a very sensitive scalp. Is it going to sting?
It's designed precisely for irritated scalps. The salt is fine-grain and wrapped in coconut and macadamia oils, so the feeling is cool, not abrasive. If you have open sores from scratching, wait until they close and test a small area behind the ear first.
How soon do I see results?
The itching usually eases from the first application, that same night. Flakes visibly reduce between the second and third week, using it twice a week. A layer that built up over years doesn't come off in one go: the first application loosens it and the following ones keep removing it. That's why the full treatment is about two jars.

Week 3. I wore a black shirt to work for the first time in two years. My scalp does not itch at night anymore and my part line is clean. Five minutes with the massager before the shower, that is it.

I was skeptical because nothing from the drugstore ever lasted more than two weeks. This is different: you actually see the gray flakes come off in the water. Halfway through my second jar. I only wish it came in a bigger size.

Arrived in 8 days, box was perfect. Used it twice so far and the itching is already way down. My hair feels lighter, like my scalp finally breathes. Ordering the 4-jar set next.

I work face to face with customers and the worst part was the black sweater. I brushed off my shoulders before every meeting and kept a little microfiber cloth in my drawer to wipe the desk. A hundred times a day, without thinking. I tried everything: the blue drugstore stuff for years, a $40 one from the pharmacy, the ketoconazole from the derm. Every one of them lasted a week and a half. My sister took the second photo at six weeks. The cloth is still in the drawer, but I haven't pulled it out in weeks.

I'm 54 and I'd given up. What made it click was something I'd never connected: my eyebrow and the sides of my nose were always irritated too. I treated them separately, like three different things, and it turns out it's all the same: a fungus that eats skin oil and shows up wherever there's the most of it. When I read that I felt dumb, but relieved too, because I'd spent years thinking it was from not washing well enough. I didn't grow new hair and I wasn't expecting to. What ended was the itching and the white stuff.

I took half a day off work for an appointment that lasted four minutes. She didn't part my hair, didn't touch it, didn't pull out a magnifier. $250 to get sent off with a shampoo I bought that afternoon over the counter for $25. I walked out feeling dumb for having asked for the time off. I'm 41, and what made me go wasn't the dandruff: it was noticing my part getting wider. With this the itching went away the first week and the flakes took a month. A month, not three days.

I showered with the water scalding hot because it was the only thing that stopped the itch. I'd keep my head under for three or four minutes and come out red. My wife would laugh and say I looked like a lobster. I never told her why I did it. Eight years like that, until I read that very hot water strips the lipids from your skin and the skin responds by making more oil, which is exactly what this thing feeds on. Every shower was setting the table for it. I turned the temperature down and started exfoliating. Five weeks and nobody's laughing anymore.

With curly hair the flakes don't fall: they get tangled up in the curls and it's worse, because you don't see powder on your shoulders but it's all up there. The hardest part for me was going to the salon. I'm going to be honest about the timing because nobody else is: it took longer than they promised, about a month and a half. There were two weeks when I thought it was another product down the drain. It worked, but I'm giving it four stars for that: if you expect results in a week, you'll quit too early.

I've had this since I was sixteen and I'm 43. I work in consulting, eight hours sitting at a dark table, and what bothered me most wasn't the dandruff: it was the desk. I'd rest my forehead on my hand while reading, turn my head, and when I looked down there it was, on the wood. I went to the doctor about my hair, not the dandruff. What I use now didn't bring back the hair I lost, I'll say that plainly. But my scalp is clean and it doesn't get matted at the roots anymore.

Why ALVEA works when the others don't

If you've spent years buying bottle after bottle, you deserve this answer before you spend another dollar.

How to use it

1
On dry hair, before you shower. On wet hair the salt dissolves and does nothing.
2
A walnut-sized amount, on the roots only. The product is for your scalp, not your hair.
3
Massage for 2-3 minutes, no nails. Leave it on 5 minutes, then wash with your usual shampoo.
4
Twice a week. Less won't remove the buildup; more won't let your skin rebuild its barrier.

The problem isn't the brand you buy. It's that a shampoo only does ONE job.

A yeast called Malassezia lives on your scalp. We all have it: it's not dirt and it's not poor hygiene, which is why washing more doesn't fix it.

It feeds on your scalp's oil, and in doing so it irritates the skin. Your irritated skin defends itself by renewing in 4 days instead of 28. The cells don't have time to fall away, so they pile up. That pile is the flake you see.

A shampoo sits there for 90 seconds and it's made for hair, not for the skin underneath. And the harsher it is, the more it dries you out — and dry skin makes more oil, which is more food for the yeast.

Sea salt JOB 1

Sea Salt

Lifts the layer — on dry skin

The fine grains get in between the flake and the skin and lift it off instead of tearing it. Like peeling a wet label instead of yanking it: it comes off whole and doesn't take the skin underneath with it.

Coconut oil JOB 2

Coconut Oil

Cuts off the yeast's food supply

Keeps the skin from drying out while you exfoliate. If it doesn't dry out, it doesn't overproduce oil. It doesn't kill anything: it takes away the plate.

Macadamia oil JOB 3

Macadamia Oil

Protects your hair while you exfoliate

It's the oil closest to your own skin's natural oil. It softens the flake so the salt can lift it without pulling on your hair.

Ginger extract JOB 4

Ginger Extract

Switches off the itch

It's the only one you actually feel: that warm tingle in the first minute is the itch switching off. If you notice it, it's working.

And the honest part: seborrheic dermatitis can't be cured, only controlled. Anyone who promises to cure it is lying to you, and we'd rather lose the sale than lie. That's why we give you 100 days to judge it on your own head.

INCI: Aqua, Sea Salt, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Polyquaternium-10, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil.
INCLUDED IN YOUR BUNDLE

The massager that does the work for you

No shampoo gets under the layer: it rinses off in 90 seconds. The fungus lives there 24 hours a day. That's why the treatment has four jobs — and the ALVEA kit does all four.

1. Remove the crust

The layer of oil and dead cells where the fungus hides. The 4 heads work the cream down to the root and lift it off — where your fingers can't reach.

2. Treat where the fungus lives

With the layer gone, the actives finally touch the skin. Two minutes of massage that feel like a spa session at home, while the formula works where the problem starts.

3. Repair the barrier

The skin calms down, stops defending itself by shedding flakes, and rebuilds its barrier. Hair grows from a healthy scalp: looser, with more life in it.

She has spent 19 years treating seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis and scalp flaking in private practice in Houston. She estimates she has seen more than 6,000 cases.

“Most of my patients come in after years of medicated shampoos. The problem is almost never the shampoo: it's that nobody removed the layer underneath first. Once the scalp skin is exfoliated, whatever you put on top finally does something.”

It's not your hair. It's what's underneath

Every week your skin makes new cells. When the old ones don't come off, they stack up and form a crust that hardens over time. That's where everything gets trapped: sebum, sweat, product residue. And that's where no shampoo reaches, because shampoo works on the hair, not the skin.

That's why you can wash every day and still see flakes. Alvea doesn't wash: it lifts that crust with sea salt and ginger, and leaves the skin free to breathe.

You've spent years treating the symptom

You switched shampoos. Then to a medicated one. Then to the expensive one from the pharmacy. And the flakes keep coming back every week, like clockwork.

Of course they do: you're cleaning on top of the crust, never underneath it. It's like scrubbing a plate with plastic wrap still on it.

The right order is the other way around: remove first, then wash. Twice a week, five minutes.
